The MA Childhood and Education offers a unique opportunity to broaden your understanding of critical issues and contemporary debates relating to childhood, society, culture and education. The programme is suitable for those looking to work, or if already working, advance their careers, in associated professions. It is an appropriate progression route for recent graduates in childhood studies, early childhood studies, psychology and education or other related subjects who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of key themes relevant to the diverse lives, experiences and education of children. Academics and experienced practitioners deliver this MA, offering excellent preparation for progression in and into professional work with children, young people, and families, or for those preparing to undertake further postgraduate or professional studies. Our MA focuses on several key childhood and education themes within a framework of diversity, culture and identity, which challenges marginalisation and exclusion. You will explore key theoretical perspectives and develop a critical understanding of the effects of social exclusion and a range of cultural, societal, political, historical, philosophical, global and economic factors on diverse childhoods. In addition, you will gain an understanding of both the formal and informal contexts for learning and development within related disciplines and professions - elements that are emphasised throughout the MA programme.

If English is not your first language, IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 in any component) or equivalent is the minimum requirement.
