The University of Liverpool Management School is one of an elite group of institutions worldwide to be AACSB-Accredited. The Management School is offering a number of generous Scholarships and Study Awards for 2018, find out more by visiting the Scholarships webpage. Programe Overview The MSc Economics offers students rigorous training in economic theory and analytical methods to answer pressing socio-economic questions. It places much emphasis on using the appropriate theoretical framework for interpreting various current economic and financial issues. These include the economic impact of rising US trade tariffs, Brexit, shocks in exchange rates, China as an economic power, reducing poverty, and the rise in global market power of firms. The programme provides students with the option of two pathways: the ‘Economics Pathway’ and the ‘Financial Economics Pathway’. Under each pathway, modules have been introduced to provide students with advanced training in economics or financial economics. The MSc Economics is an excellent opportunity for students who pursue a career in global industry, banks or government organisations after having developed sophisticated understanding of the economy and acquired state-of-the-art analytical skills. It is also well suited for students who wish to continue a professional research career, for instance working within international organisations or research institutes. The MSc Economics is embedded in the rapidly growing Economics Group at the Management School. The course modules are inspired by world class research of its faculty, publishing in the leading academic journals whilst maintaining close relationships with the financial world, industry and government organisations.
Getting in
As the university states it
The ULMS continues to welcome applications that fulfil our admissions criteria in order to select a balanced international student cohort. As students from different countries tend to apply at different points in the application period, applications from some countries may close earlier in the year. In these cases we will aim to provide a 3-week notice period to the affected country, prior to any programme closure. A 2:1 Honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in Economics or a related discipline with a quantitative focus. Students with a 2:1 degree from a quantitative Science discipline (e.g. Maths, Physics, Statistics, Operations Research) are also encouraged to apply. Applicants should have competency in A-Level Mathematics/Statistics or equivalent. International qualifications: Applications from international students are welcomed. Country specific information on entry requirements is listed on our website: www.liverpool.ac.uk/international/countries/index.htm. International qualifications will be evaluated in line with the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) guidelines.
