On this pathway you'll study how to conduct research in education – the nuts and bolts of study design, data collection and data analysis. This is an ideal pathway if you are thinking of going on to study at doctoral level: it provides excellent preparation for conducting a large-scale research project whatever your topic or field of interest. You'll cover qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods, and engage in in-depth discussions about how design and methodology affect how we conduct research. Our MA Education provides a thorough grounding in educational research and practice, encompassing teaching, mentoring, training and management. You'll receive high-quality research and career training, preparing you for doctoral study or new challenges in your professional career – with the ultimate focus of improving the life chances of children in your care. Choose from a wide range of modules spanning topics which explore current educational research, led by research-active lecturers. Throughout your studies, we'll support your development of academic literacies, helping you become more fluent and knowledgeable in the way you learn to read, write and talk about academic ideas. Develop your critical thinking as you explore theoretical perspectives, ideas and concepts in education, investigating the foundations that shape how you were educated, and how you educate others. You'll reflect on your own professional experience and explore how research informs practice in settings that you already know – and those that you don’t – such as educational systems in other countries, new trends, and ideas in education. Other subjects will be accepted if you can demonstrate in your professional experience and personal statement that you have an active interest in education and an appropriate level of professional experience. 2.You present appropriate evidence of a minimum of one year, full-time equivalent, of professional experience working as an educator. This may include teaching and/or training in any subject or age phase or setting, coaching and/or mentoring in an educational setting, or working in education management or policy. You must supply one reference from a suitable person in authority who can confirm the extent, range and quality of your professional experience to the satisfaction of the Admissions Team. 3. It should explain your motivations for taking the programme, and present evidence from your professional experience that indicates how this makes you a suitable candidate for the programme. Evidence must be realistic and believable, so should identify the educational setting, the dates the professional experience occurred, the nature of the professional experience and what kind of roles and responsibilities you held during this professional experience. 4. International applicants must hold IELTS 6.5 overall with no element less than 6.0 (or equivalent). Due to the popularity of this programme and the importance of teaching at the start of term, applications must be received by 1 August 2022 for entry in September 2022.
