This course is for you if you’re interested in atomic, molecular and optical physics, as well as experimental particle physics. Our research lies at the forefront of fundamental physics, including: - quantum information processing - top-rated particle physics experiments - the theoretical understanding of space, time and matter. The Department is a founder member of SEPnet, the South East Physics Network of physics departments, which supports vital research, teaching and development in the South East. We understand that deciding where and what to study is a very important decision. You should normally have a lower second-class (2.2) undergraduate honours degree or above. Your qualification should be in a physics-based subject (including mathematics and engineering degrees) with significant modern physics content including quantum mechanics, electrodynamics and nuclear physics. You may also be considered for the course if you have other professional qualifications or experience of equivalent standing.
