PGDipTchg (Secondary Field-based) graduates will know and understand the principles, concepts and ideas of current theory and research about effective teaching and learning. They will have a sound understanding of the national curriculum and the national qualifications framework. Graduates will be able to critically apply this knowledge to practice in schools, and be able to further develop coherence between educational theory, research, and practice. They will contribute effectively to raising student achievement. Graduates will be self-aware and researching professionals, who use critical inquiry and problem solving, and who engage with evidence and professional literature to reflect on and refine their practice. They will have developed the knowledge and skills to contribute to informed discussion of equitable education in the wider community.
